Honda Accord, Civic, and CR-V Recalled Due to Fuel Pump Problem

A defective pump risks fire, crash, and injury

Honda is recalling 720,000 cars and SUVs due to concerns that a defective high-pressure fuel pump may develop cracks that could allow fuel leaks. The automaker says that when a problem develops, a fuel smell may be detectable when idling or driving. The leak creates a risk of fire, crash, or injury.

The recalled models: 2023-2024 Honda Accord and Accord Hybrid, 2025 Honda Civic Sedan and Civic Sedan Hybrid, and 2023-2025 Honda CR-V Hybrid.

Owners will be notified by mail in December 2024 and directed to take their vehicle to a local dealership for a free inspection. If a problem is found, the pump will be replaced.

Honda is not aware of any crashes or injuries related to this issue.

This recall comes less than a year after the automaker recalled 2.5 million Honda and Acura vehicles due to concerns of premature fuel pump failure.

The problem: A crack may develop in the high-pressure fuel pump, allowing gasoline to leak.

The fix: If an inspection by an authorized dealership reveals a problem, the fuel pump will be replaced at no charge.
